While in college at Sam Houston State University, Tyler was a member of the livestock judging team and the rodeo team. She graduated with a double major in Psychology and Political Science. After graduating from South Texas College of Law in Houston Texas, she moved to Dallas where she now lives with her cherished Maltipoo Onyx.
