Just because summer is here doesn’t mean there aren’t older adults who have been laid off or are re-entering the workplace and looking for a fresh start. Working through the Elder Financial Safety Center, The Senior Source assists those age 50 and older to connect, network and learn skills and techniques that will help them in today’s ever-changing workplace. Below is a list of upcoming, no-cost weekly events through September, as well as information about “Hire Experience 2017 – A Job Fair for Individuals 50+” being held on Tuesday, September 26:

 

Resume/Interviewing Workshop

Thursday, July 27 – 1 to 3 p.m.

Participants are invited to learn how to compile a great resume or to get constructive feedback on their existing resume while networking with other job seekers and learning best practices for interviews. This free event will be held at The Senior Source, 3910 Harry Hines, in Dallas. Getting Started: The New World of Work

Tuesday, August 1 – 1 to 3 p.m.

The Getting Started workshop will help job seekers age 50+ to learn the fundamentals of navigating the new world of work so that they are on their way to reaching your employment goals in no time! This free event will be held at The Senior Source, 3910 Harry Hines, in Dallas. Senior Success Series: Beginner’s LinkedIn

Wednesday, August 9 – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The popular social media tool LinkedIn can be very useful in the job search. Beginner LinkedIn users are invited to attend this session to learn important tips and tricks for maximizing this new technology. This free event will be held at The Senior Source, 3910 Harry Hines, in Dallas. Hire Experience 2017 – A Job Fair for Individuals 50+

Tuesday, September 26 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Working through the Elder Financial Safety Center, The Senior Source hosts this job fair geared to those looking for a new job, planning a career change or seeking to return to the workforce after retirement. During the job fair, attendees will be able to meet with employers seeking applicants for both part-time and full-time opportunities ranging from entry-level to highly skilled professional positions. Participants are asked to bring multiple copies of their resume, be prepared to discuss their skills and strengths and to dress for success. This event is free and open to individuals age 50 and older with no
pre-registration required.
