All of Dallas is invited to don a Give Love T-shirt this Give Love Day, Friday, May 12, to provide a night’s stay to one of the 1,200 families served by Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) each year.

In its 6th year, Give Love Day encourages an annual show of solidarity from the Dallas community to support out-of-town families seeking treatment locally for their child’s serious illness or injury by purchasing and wearing the limited edition $15 Give Love 2017 T-shirt. The price of the shirts is the same as the suggested donation for a family’s one-night stay at the House, where they receive shelter, three meals a day lovingly prepared by volunteers, and emotional support from staff and other families in similar situations.

“So many of us ask ourselves what we can do to help when families face the extraordinary challenge of a sick or injured child,” said Jill Cumnock, Chief Executive Officer of RMHD. “Give Love Day is an opportunity for us to not only show those families that we empathize with their struggle, but to also help meet their basic needs by covering the cost of a night’s stay at the House with a T-shirt purchase. Some of our families may need to stay here for months, so it’s an incredible gift to provide even a night.”

Families who stay at RMHD are asked to contribute only $15 a night toward the cost of their stay, but no family is ever turned away for an inability to pay. Give Love Day will culminate with an ice cream party for friends of all ages and current House residents at RMHD from 2 to 4 p.m. with Shiloh, Chief Cheer Officer of RMHD.

The cornflower blue T-shirts are sized youth S and M, and adult S to XXXL, and are available online at www.rmhdallas.org/givelove, as well as at the front desk of RMHD, located at 4707 Bengal Drive in Dallas. Group orders of more than 10 are also available through Bailey Kafer at bkafer@rmhdallas.org or 214-624-5363. Those who purchase a T-shirt are encouraged to post photos featuring their T-shirts to social media with the hashtag #GiveLove17.

Current sponsors for Give Love Day include Liquid Agents Healthcare, RMHC of Greater North Texas, Lute Riley Honda, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Axxys Technologies and Parrish Restaurants, LTD.

Showing off your efforts to serve the Earth this year could pay off with a vacation of your choice (up to $2,000) from Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning. The company, one of North America’s largest heating and air conditioning service companies, is inviting individuals to post on social media how they are serving the Earth at home with the hashtags #servetheearth and #saveyourair through midnight on Earth Day, April 22 for a chance to win a trip to wherever they choose.

“Our spring campaign this year focuses on how our individual choices at home can make a significant difference in our environmental impact,” said Dave Moody, Vice President, Marketing for Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning. “This #ServetheEarth contest plays to our social inclination to showcase ourselves by encouraging individuals to share posts, photos and videos about what we’re doing around the house to serve the planet and save our air. Have you planted a tree, which can absorb 10 pounds of air pollution? Do you recycle your plastic bottles, which can conserve enough energy to light a 60W bulb for up to six hours? Or have you just made an effort to take shorter showers? No feat is too small when it comes to saving the environment.”

Service Experts encourages you to be creative and original with your entry. This is your opportunity to showcase your creative skills while also demonstrating your commitment to protecting our environment. Entries can be posted to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and can include posts, photos or videos with the hashtags #servetheearth and #saveyourair. Five finalists will be chosen and featured on Service Experts’ social media after Earth Day on April 22 for voting through Arbor Day, April 28 when the winner will be announced and notified.

Additional information on how improving your home energy affects the environment is available at SaveYourAir.com. Full contest rules can be viewed online.
