On December 11th, seniors gathered for an elegant, chic holiday dinner by the glow of flickering candles to commemorate a year of friendships, memories and life at Presbyterian Village North (PVN). For many residents, this event is the highlight of the year, as the event boasts a glamorous evening with a fine dining experience, holiday flair, lovely music presented by live entertainers and a warm time of fellowship. Some of the residents dressed up in festive holiday attire, while others took this opportunity to wear their finest. The PVN staff and community have received numerous outstanding awards for creating a senior living community in which residents thrive making new memories, celebrating life, finding spiritual fulfillment and enjoying events filled with merriment. Recently the community’s leading medical director, Dr. Lisa Clark, was recognized as being one of the best geriatric doctors by D Magazine. PVN was also recently named one of the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

“The residents are always filled with so much excitement for the Candlelight Dinner, as it is quite the event,” said Lisa Englander, independent life enrichment manager for Presbyterian Village North. “Even the staff gets eager for this evening of splendor. We just love seeing everyone dressed up and having a wonderful time. The residents will be talking about this event well into the New Year. We started this tradition to show our residents how much we appreciate them and to help them create new, warm holiday memories with their neighbors and friends.”

The evening commenced at 4:00 p.m. with a cocktail hour, during which the community served sparkling champagne, festive cocktails and delectable hor’d'oeuvres. Paul Anderson, a vocalist, sang holiday melodies during this hour. Residents were then escorted by PVN’s leadership team into an extravagant dining area to enjoy a three-course meal by candlelight. PVN’s head chef designed a culinary treat of shrimp cocktail, tuna steak and beef tenderloin. Bill Cobb provided entertainment by playing the piano during dinner.

“Ultimately, Christmas is about celebrating God’s greatest expression of love to us through the Christ child,” said Ron Kelly, executive director for Presbyterian Village North. “The Candlelight Dinner is a great opportunity to reflect that love among our resident and staff family during this holiday season.”
