TITAS Presents and its presenting partner the AT&T Performing Arts Center are mourning the loss of brilliant choreographer Bruce Wood.

“The art world has lost a bright light and an extraordinary artist,” said Charles Santos, executive director of TITAS Presents. “Bruce Wood leaves a legacy of great creativity and talent. I am so happy to have known and worked with Bruce since the ‘90s. We’ve lost a great artist and a great friend.”

Over several decades, Bruce Wood has had a tremendous impact on the local performing arts scene. Wood was a featured commissioned choreographer as part of the TITAS Command Performance program on May 2 in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, and recently his company, Bruce Wood Dance Project, was part of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre Spring Celebration tribute to Ann Williams. Bruce Wood’s choreography and dancers were also key participants in the stirring collaborative AIDS benefit performances at the Winspear Opera House, A Gathering (November 2011) and A Gathering 2013 (October 2013).

“Anyone who saw Bruce’s company perform knew they were witnessing something unexpected and special,” said Doug Curtis, the Center’s president and CEO. “Our city has lost a talented choreographer, teacher and artist.”
