Restaurant owners, merchants, and museums welcome Texas-OU fans, spectators, and families to the hospitality of the West End District
DALLAS, Texas (September 21, 2018) – The West End Historic District of downtown Dallas’ bars, restaurants, and museums offer a unique experience to Texas-OU fans, in a laid-back atmosphere.
In beautifully converted warehouses and factories that once produced everything from saddles to saltine crackers, visitors can enjoy live music, exceptional food and drink, and the nostalgic ambiance of the city of Dallas’ birthplace which began as an outpost in 1841.
“We invite Texas-OU fans to come enjoy your pick of eight restaurants and three museums. You can the game and root for your team, and enjoy a wonderful meal. The DART light rail stops in the heart of the district at West End Station,” says Stephen Luik, President of the West End Association. “Come see where we’re going in the West End Historic District.”

The Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse not only has the décor of pure Texas, the menu is as well, featuring incredible steak and big game. The Steakhouse’s legacy stems from the internationally known Y.O. Ranch in the Texas Hill Country which specializes in breeding cattle. UTA’s Long Horn mascot, Bevo, was bred on the Y.O. Ranch.

The Dallas Holocaust Museum, founded by Survivors who came to Dallas as refugees after WWII, hosts two exhibitions including the Texas debut of Let Me Be Myself: The Life Story of Anne Frank. Its Virtual Reality component allows visitors to travel back in time to Anne Frank’s hiding place, the Secret Annex. VR available 1-3 p.m. Online booking for VR required. Restrictions apply.
The Old Red Museum of Dallas County History and Culture showcases Dallas County’s story from its humble beginnings to the metropolis it is today. The Museum offers new historical discoveries – not only in its galleries but also within the building itself. It is the site of VisitDallas’ Welcome Center, where you can find information about all there is to see and do in Dallas.
The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza chronicles the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. The Museum’s permanent exhibit, John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation, is located on the sixth floor of the former Texas School Book Depository, where evidence was found directly linking it to the assassination of President Kennedy.
