We left off in Uptown and as everyone knows this upcoming weekend is going to be an extra long weekend indeed flowing all the way to Tuesday the 17th, St. Patrick’s Day. You’re definitely going to need to visit more than one or two venues to magnify the experience!
One more interesting place in Uptown before we move on is the British Beverage Company in the Quadrangle. From the outside it looks rather small and British but the inside is huge with lots of televisions for your favorite sporting event, two full size bars, two great patios and cuisine that will rival London. While sipping your favorite lager munch on Spinach Artichoke AuGratin Dip, Charcuterie & Cheese Platter and the Beer Battered Cod Filets. If you stick around for dinner you won’t be disappointed. Check out the Bangers & Mash, the Royal Pub Burger and the Traditional Fish & Chips, of course! There are plenty of salads and healthy American dishes too!
Lower Greenville and Upper Greenville are going to be packed as usual. The Dallas Observer is having their big show starring Josh Abbot at Energy Square. Not too far is an establishment with one of the best patios in Dallas, Ozona Grill & Bar. If the weather permits you could camp out, enjoy the food & drink and walk to the show. Inside you get the west Texas charm along with a friendly staff. Appetizers are terrific such as Neely’s Nachos, Ozona Wings & Spinach Quesadillas to name a few. For dinner the Homemade Mexican dishes are always something special. Try the Salmon Tacos….healthy & tasty! Meat eaters will enjoy the Texas Ribeye & the Baby Back Ribs. Lots of other dishes on the menu….something for everyone!
Moving to Lower Greenville there are so many places it’s really hard to make a choice. For those that are visiting the Dallas area during this holiday this part of town is the heart beat of St. Patrick’s Day in Dallas. A real haven for the young and the young at heart!
Ok…let’s get started! The Londoner provides a true London pub experience. Everyone has a great time at this establishment. You can sit out on the patio and watch the party or sneak inside where things might be calmer. You can find the British beverage of your choice or any other libation that makes you happy. The food is all over the map so don’t stop in thinking its all English. Appetizers include Hummus & Pita, Mini-me Sliders, Chips & Curry, The Londoner Cheese Board and Grilled Chicken Kebabs…..see what I mean! There are soups & salads and sandwiches galore. Naturally they have a superb Fish & Chips and Shepherds Pie!
Dodie’s New Orleans Cajun Café will be one of the places to be. Sit on the sidewalk side of the bar or inside it’s the center of attention. If it gets crowded on the inside wander up to the rooftop patio. Enjoy Bayou Ceviche, Fried Pickles and Jumbo Peel & Eat Gulf Shrimp with your favorite beer or cocktail. The Seafood Gumbo is worth the visit. Then there are Dodie’s Oysters, Dodie’s House Salad and Cajun Seared Ahi Tuna. So many New Orleans’ dishes…..ok…here’s two more…..Crawfish Etouffee & Jambalaya!
Further on down is HG Sply Co. This establishment is known for its farm to market dishes that are 2nd to none. Everything is fresh and healthy. Here are a few to sample: Cochinita Nachos, HG Kale Caesar, Ahi Poke Salad and Roasted Beet & Green Salad to snack on before dinner. Follow up with the always delicious Brick Chicken, Snapper Cioppino, Braised Beef Short Rib, Delmonico and the Cauliflower Steak. You can dine out front on the patio if the weather is nice.
We are doing our best to cover Dallas but there’s so many great places it’s difficult because we would like to include so many more along Greenville and in Uptown. We only have so much time and space. We’ll move further north in the Third Day Run tomorrow.
