The final nine concrete crossbeams that support The Park, a 5.2-acre urban green space housed over the Woodall Rogers Freeway, have been placed and landscaping the new park will begin later this year.

A total of 316 beams have been installed since October 2010, and provide the structural foundation for the park, which is scheduled to open in fall 2012,  officials of The Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation said.

“Setting these final beams marks another milestone for The Park,” said Linda Owen, president of the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation. “Each phase of The Park’s development brings us one step closer to re-knitting the urban fabric of our city.”

The Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation, which oversees the development and programming for The Park, recently announced more than $1 million in new donations, including a $500,000 contribution from the Rotary Club of Dallas to celebrate its centennial anniversary this year.

The Park will serve as a central gathering space for Dallas and its visitors to enjoy in the heart of the city.
