Registration for the 44th running of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon, 5-Person Relay, SMU Cox Corporate Relay Challenge presented by Behringer Harvard and the Cigna Mayor’s Race 5K presented by Oncor opened Saturday, June 1, online here.

The official marathon of the City of Dallas, the Dallas Marathon is capped at 25,000 runners for the December 8, 2013 event, including a marathon, half marathon and 5-person relays. The Dallas Marathon is a nonprofit organization with proceeds from the race benefiting Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children to support general hospital care. To date, the marathon has contributed more than $3.3 million to the hospital.

“Last year’s course, with a new start and finish downtown, highlighted Dallas’ premier landmarks, and was met with great feedback from our runners,” said Kevin Snyder, chairman of the Dallas Marathon board of trustees. “The public support for our race continues to grow, and we expect to help further our mission of helping improve health and fitness in the local community.”

In 2013, runners can expect very similar course footprints to that of the 2012 races, with minor improvements adding to the appeal of the courses. Course maps will be available online following USATF certification.

The Omni Dallas Hotel is serving as the official headquarters hotel for the 2013 Dallas Marathon. Opened in 2011, the hotel offers affordable accommodations in downtown Dallas near the Dallas Marathon finish line. Runners will also enjoy a convenient connection to the Dallas Marathon Health & Fitness Expo held in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center (formerly the Dallas Convention Center), via skybridge. Omni Dallas reservations include 3 p.m. checkout on race day, and discounted parking.

Registration is capped at 6,000 marathon participants, 13,000 half marathon participants and 6,000 relay participants. Event fees for the marathon, half marathon and 5-person relays are $100, $85 and $255, respectively. Fees will increase on August 1.
