CityArtCal will celebrate its seventh year of publishing Fine Art in Dallas calendars with the event Cirque de la Musique, on Friday, Nov. 9 6 p.m.-2 a.m. at Gallery at Midtown, 13331 Preston Rd. in Dallas. The party will include live music, dancing, live painting, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle, and a fine art silent auction.  The proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Edith Baker Art Scholarship and Musical Angels. Tickets are $25, and include a copy of 2013 Fine Art in Dallas, which features work from 100 Dallas visual artists.  and are available at http://cityartcal.eventbrite.com. For more information, call 214.263.5918

 

Event Details: 

6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  Easy “live” soulful music in tandem with the fine art silent auction

8 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.  Electric sounds with DJ Patricia Rodriguez and performances by AUCE “dark art dancers” during a live paint session by Artist DIY.

9:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.  Sing-along piano performance featuring Jerry Brown and raffle for an artfully painted piano 

10:30 p.m. - 1 a.m.  After-party with a live cover band.

ABOUT EDITH BAKER ART SCHOLARSHIP: (www.dallasartdealers.org/edith-baker-scholarship/)  To celebrate its 20th

 anniversary in 2005, DADA created a scholarship honoring a respected member of the Dallas art community and one of its founding members, Edith Baker. Edith owned and directed The Edith Baker Gallery in Dallas for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2004. Every year, the Edith Baker Art Scholarship and Artist Career Development Fund, a 501(c) 3, financially benefits a student pursuing the study of visual arts along with giving that student a gallery internship, a mentor and an artist studio visit. The Scholarship also presents a career fair at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, two juried exhibitions of Booker T and Dallas County Community College students’ artwork, a docent-training program, biannual educational events, and Art Chicas and Art Chicos at La Reunion TX.

 

ABOUT MUSICAL ANGELS: (musicalangels.vpweb.com/) Musical Angels, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to uplift and improve the quality of life of hospitalized children by actively engaging them in the process of making music with their own hands and hearts. Musical Angels provides free, weekly piano lessons to children ages six and above while they are at the hospital. Music is a powerful, non-invasive medium that assists in reducing fear and anxiety. Musical Angels believes that the process of the child making music with their own hands and hearts improves their quality of life and assist in the healing process. Currently, Musical Angels provides weekly services to the four children's hospitals in Dallas:  Children Medical Center, Our Children's House at Baylor, Medical City, and Scottish Rite.
