Aaron Alarcon (tenor) and Juan Rodriguez (baritone) are two classically trained singers that make up the Baritenor Project. The Cathedral of Hope members are raising funds for a charity album.

Their duets lifted the congregation of the Cathedral of Hope to new heights, so when Aaron Alarcon and Juan Rodriguez of the Baritenor Project wanted to release a charity album, members of the Uptown church gave and gave and gave some more.

"The response of the church has been overwhelming," Alarcon said. "People were coming up to us, thanking us. It's just amazing how people have responded to this project."

Using USA Projects as a fundraising platform, Alarcon and Rodriguez's Baritenor Project (Rodriguez is a baritone, and Alarcon is a tenor, hence bari-tenor) set a goal of $6,500 to cut an album of classical and inspiring music to benefit the Little Blue Schools of Reynosa, Mexico, and the music ministry of Cathedral of Hope.

Not only did the two classically trained singers meet their minimum goal, but they surpassed their minimum amount by $1,100. Obviously, the community believes in their mission just as passionately.

"Juan and I both have passion, and that's for helping others. We feel like we're a part of this very inspiring ministry," Alarcon said. "We're taking this message up and out of Dallas to the rest of the world."

While this will be Rodriguez's first album, Alarcon has been in the studio before. There is a lot of pressure, though, because so much is riding on this project, Alarcon said. The Little Blue Schools program itself is important to both singers because it provides education and a safe place for children in poverty in rural Mexico. Little Blue Schools is a three-way partnership between Cherish Our Children International, Cathedral of Hope, and ROHI.

Although the Baritenor Project has surpassed their minimum goal of $6,500, they hope to raise $10,000 for costs related to recording the initial album and then a second one of inspirational hymns and carols.
