The Dallas Marathon board of trustees today announced TomTom, the world’s leading supplier of navigation and location-based products and services, as a new sponsor of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon and 5-Person Relay.

“We are thrilled to have such a notable national leader support our race,” said Patrick Byerly, president of the Dallas Marathon. “With TomTom’s help, we will continue to improve the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon weekend experience for both our participants and our spectators.”

One of TomTom’s latest products, the Runner GPS Watch, is specifically designed with runners in mind. The watch can track time, distance and pace both indoors and out – while the durable, waterproof display makes it ideal for all marathon conditions. The watch’s unique design and capabilities make it easier for runners to stay motivated and reach their goals. TomTom’s Multi-Sport GPS Watch helps athletes track running, cycling and swimming metrics at a glance through a bike mount and swim sensor. TomTom will offer on-site activation at the two-day Health and Fitness Expo (Friday, Dec. 6-Saturday, Dec. 7) in addition to celebrating with runners completing the race at the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon post-race party.

“TomTom is proud to be a first-time sponsor of the Dallas Marathon,” said Tom Murray, vice president of marketing for TomTom Inc. “We identified the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon as a great opportunity to gain exposure for our TomTom Runner and look forward to talking to runners and growing this relationship. We anticipate a memorable series of events leading up to December 8.”

The Dallas Convention Center will host the Health and Fitness Expo, with the Cigna Mayor’s Race 5K presented by Oncor running on Saturday, Dec. 7, and the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon and 5-Person Relays running on Sunday, Dec. 8.
