Tim Tebow Receives Zig Ziglar Award

Prestonwood Christian Academy raised a record $1.45 million and awarded Tim Tebow with its Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award at the 13th annual Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award Banquet, Sunday, April 11.

The banquet was held Sunday at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. By the end of the evening, the generous giving of parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Prestonwood Christian Academy community surpassed expectations, giving over $1.4 million and setting an attendance record of 1,200.

All proceeds from the Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award Banquet directly benefit Sponsor-A-Child (SAC), Prestonwood Christian Academy's tuition assistance program. Each year, 450-500 PCA students receive need-based financial assistance, averaging $7,400 annually, determined by an independent, third-party organization.

“A true blessing of the Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award Banquet is to hear incredible testimonies of how lives have been transformed because of the opportunities provided for Kingdom education here at Prestonwood Christian Academy,” said PCA Head of Schools, Dr. Mike Goddard. “It is a privilege to recognize one of our nation’s most prominent Christian influencers as our award recipient, a gifted athlete who has taken his platform and used it for the greater good of the Kingdom. At PCA we strive to develop courageous faith-filled students, who like our award recipient, Tim Tebow, are not just believers of Christ, but followers of Christ, servant-leaders and Christian life-changers in every sector of society.”

The Zig Ziglar Servant Leadership Award was established in 2009 through the shared vision of Prestonwood Christian Academy and the Prestonwood Foundation, with the purpose of encapsulating the legacy of Zig Ziglar by annually naming a recipient who embodies the very essence of Christ-like servant leadership.

"As evidenced by the work of his foundation, Mr. Tebow continues to be passionate about sharing the love of Christ with children around the country and the world," said Pastor Jack Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church. "His missionary background and training from his parents instilled in him the importance of God’s word, the salvation we have in Jesus and the responsibility we have to give back to others. This same training is highlighted in PCA’s mission of partnering with parents and our church to equip students to model Christ-like leadership to influence their homes, churches and communities for Christ. I can't think of a more fitting recipient for this award."
