Good spirits are in the air as holiday approaches, and Origin Kitchen & Bar, a Knox/Henderson neighborhood gem serving modern, eclectic American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, celebrates the upcoming holidays with a new seasonal cocktail menu. Staying true to Origin’s mantra of using fresh, seasonal ingredients, Bar Manager Myles York highlights three cocktail recipes perfect for the holidays. Each cocktail is $10 each.

 

 

John’s Remedy

2 oz. Jameson Irish Whiskey

¾ oz. Luxardo Maraschino Cherry Liquor

1 dash Chinese Bitters

 

Add ice and ingredients to shaker tin and shake thoroughly. Strain into a snifter glass. Garnish with lemon peel and maraschino cherry. 

 

Seasonal Old Fashioned

2 oz. Redemption Rye

½ oz. Pumpkin Syrup*

2 dashes Orange Bitters

 

Pour all ingredients into a pint glass filled with ice. Stir and strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with an orange peel.

 

*Pumpkin Syrup Recipe – bring one cup water to boil. Add one cup raw sugar and 4 oz. pumpkin spiced butter (available at grocery stores). Stir ingredients until evenly dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Once cooled, strain with cheese cloth.

 

 

King in the North

1 ½ oz. Bruichladdich Scottish Barley

½ oz. Disaronno Amaretto

 

Pour all ingredients into a pint glass filled with ice. Stir and strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a Luxardo Cherry.
