'86 & Noise' Brings Edgy Spirits To LARK On The Park

LARK on the Park, located at 2015 Woodall Rodgers Freeway across from Klyde Warren Park, is hosting the 86 & Noise Spirits Dinner with The 86 Co. The event will feature four tasters, four cocktails and four courses on Monday, Aug. 18, with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and dinner starting at 7 p.m.

Unlike previous beer and wine dinners hosted at LARK, 86 & Noise will be edgy and less structured to complement the out-of-the-box character of the spirits brand. The 86 Co. owner, Jason Kosmas, and Texas Brand Ambassador, Omar YeeFoon, will co-host with LARK’s bar manager and mixologist, Matthew Orth. Cocktails for the dinner will highlight all four of 86’s spirits and include a separate taster of each spirit paired with courses prepared by executive chefs Melody Bishop and Dennis Kelley. The menu includes:

  • Cocktail Hour
    • An intimate cocktail hour with Kosmas, YeeFoon and Orth where spirits will be available to taste along with cocktails that show off each individual spirit.
  • First Course
    • Tequila Cabeza, dry vermouth, honey, cilantro, cucumber and celery bitters served with The Cold Standard ice; paired with grilled shrimp with arugula, frisee, cucumber, fresh herbs and lemon
  • Second Course
    • Fords Gin, lemon, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red bell pepper, basil and mint; paired with steak tartare with quail egg, parmesan and crostini
  • Third Course
    • Cana Brava Rum, banana cordial and lime served up with toasted hazelnuts, dehydrated bananas and Turbinado sugar rim; paired with grilled jerk chicken with basmati rice, field peas and pineapple salsa
  • Fourth Course
    • Aylesbury Duck & Weave mint-lime granita

Launched in September 2012, The 86 Co. is the vision of bartenders Kosmas (Bolsa, Neighborhood Services), Dushan Zaric and Simon Ford. The trio had numerous conversations about the international bartending community and discussed what was missing in a spirits line. What developed was The 86 Co., a brand focusing on high-quality, robust spirits created by bartenders for bartenders. The 86 Co.’s spirits are distributed worldwide in a specially created ergonomic bottle with “engaging labels filled with useful and honest information.”

“Think of LARK’s 86 & Noise Spirits Dinner as an edgy, fun and sexy tasting of spirits with a great underground brand,” Orth said. “As a bartender, I can fully appreciate the quality of 86’s spirits. The night promises to be filled with energy, and I’m looking forward to introducing each spirit to our guests that night.”

Tickets are $75 per person (not including tax and gratuity). The restaurant strongly suggests making reservations in advance by calling 214-855-5275.
