Legacy in Layers: Aldredge House Museum Presents Stephanie Horne’s And Then a Poppy Blooms — An Immersive Evening of Art and History
Dallas, TX – October 26, 2025
The Aldredge House Museum welcomes Dallas artist and Aldredge family descendant Stephanie Horne for a special one-night-only exhibition, And Then a Poppy Blooms, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 5 to 8 PM. Guests are invited to experience the artist's latest resin-based works, exhibited throughout the landmark home, where contemporary dreamscapes and architectural history meet in layered dialogue.
Inspired by the haiku of Tachibana Hokushi — “I write, erase, write again—and then a poppy blooms”— Stephanie Horne’s new body of work explores cycles of erasure, renewal, and memory. Each piece emerges through repeated cycles of pouring, removing, and reworking resin layers and hand-painted details, reflecting both a meditative process and the rhythm of transformation.
A great-great-great-granddaughter of Rena Munger Aldredge, who lived in the Aldredge House for more than fifty years, Horne honors her ancestor’s enduring creativity and the home’s storied interiors. “Exhibiting in Aldredge House after rekindling my art practice was a natural choice,” Horne shares. “It deepens the connection between my layered process and the layered history of this space.”
Aldredge House Museum continues its commitment to cultural programming and community engagement through year-round events like the Château Show and other special exhibitions. This upcoming gathering welcomes Dallas’s art lovers, media, and creative community to explore the home’s celebrated early 20th-century architecture and engage in a cross-generational conversation about art, memory, and the enduring legacy of place.
