For the second year in a row, Methodist Health System has been named one of the 100 Great Places to Work in Healthcare by Becker's Hospital Review, a trade publication that rates healthcare facilities.

"The organizations on this list represent some of the best employers in the health care industry," says Methodist Health System CEO and President Stephen Mansfield, PhD. "We are honored to be recognized among such distinguished hospitals and systems."

According to Becker's, among those things that make Methodist a great place to work are employee unity, a vibrant wellness program, and the promotion of a healthy work/life balance. Employee unity is apparent in the health system's "30 Minute Club," which was established in 2005 to support the welfare of Methodist patients and employees through special projects and programs funded by voluntary contributions from staff members. In fiscal year 2011, the fund provided over $100,000 to Methodist employees in short-term financial crisis grants. The health system's wellness program, Live Well, Shine Bright, offers discounts on health plan premiums for employees that engage in the wellness program and demonstrate proactive measures for better health. Free biometric testing is also offered at any time during the year for employees wishing to check up on individual health goals. Methodist promotes a healthy work/life balance for expectant mothers by providing a prenatal
care program that waives the insurance deductible for pregnancy-related services, as well as provision of private breast pump stations at all facilities.

Methodist was also selected through an employee survey in 2011 as a "Best Place to Work" in the Dallas Business Journal for the eighth consecutive year, placing first among North Texas health care systems.

Becker's 2012 list was developed through nominations and extensive research. Organizations were chosen for recognition based on their demonstrated excellence in providing robust benefits, wellness initiatives, professional development opportunities, and atmospheres of employee unity and satisfaction.
