Cokie Roberts to Speak in the National Conversation on Rights and Justice at the Perot Museum

 

The National Archives and Records Administration and the National Archives Foundation, in partnership with the Perot Museum of Nature and Science,will present the National Conversation on Rights and Justice: Educational Access and Equity. This event marks one of six conversations taking place nationwide as part of the National Archives’ Amending Americainitiative.

Come hear author and journalist Cokie Roberts and an impressive panel of participants, includingArchivist of the United States David S. Ferriero,National Math and Science Initiative President Gregg Fleisher; National LULAC President Hector Flores; education consultant Sharon Shaffer; Paul Quinn College President Michael Sorrell; Commit! Executive Director Todd Williams; and other education activists, scholars and elected officials from across the country. From school choice to standardized testing, public education in the United States continues to be hotly debated at the state and national levels. Join the conversation as some of the most critical issues facing the nation are addressed by experts and activists, discussing topics ranging from the modern American school system to equal access to education.

Held from spring 2016 to early 2017, the “National Conversation” series explores topics related to the continuing and often complicated issues of rights in our modern era, including immigration rights/reform, civil rights and individual freedom, and women’s rights and gender equality.
