No Tie Dinner & Dessert Party Kicks Off with a Totally Awesome Night to Remember
More than $14,000 was raised for AIDS Services of Dallas to provide service-enriched housing for low-income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.
DALLAS – September 19, 2017 – Girls – and boys! – just wanted to have fun at the totally rad kick-off event for the thirteenth annual No Tie Dinner & Dessert Party that was held on North Texas Giving Day amongst the luxurious décor and statement furnishings at Scott + Cooner. Models dressed in 80’s prom attire and blue eye shadow not only teased their hair but also No Tie’s 2018 theme. The kick-off event revealed exciting announcements and new faces while raising over $14,000 for AIDS Services of Dallas (ASD), a non-profit that has been providing housing and supportive services since 1987 for low income and formerly homeless individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.
David Nelson, who has served as No Tie Chair for the last eight years, passed the “tiara” to this year’s No Tie Chair, Mr. Leslie Frye. Presented by the Purple Foundation, the 2018 No Tie Dinner & Dessert Party, themed A Night to Remember, will be a flashback of an 80’s prom featuring a live 80’s band, a little Footloose dancing, and a lot of desserts! Yet, it will also reflect on the past 30 years and the people that helped the Dallas community living with HIV/AIDS, such as this year’s impressive Honorary Chair Dr. Steven Pounders. Susan Friedman will serve as the Publicity Chair for her eighth year.
“No Tie is just one night but AIDS Services of Dallas has been doing amazing work 365 days and nights for 30 years,” said Frye.
A Night to Remember also supports ASD’s “A Night of Housing” campaign. As ASD CEO and President Don Maison explained, “Living with HIV/AIDS begins with a place to live, a place to call home. One donation of $40.73 provides one resident one night of housing. Currently, ASD is home for over 220 men, women, families, and children. Imagine what your weekly or monthly donation of $40 can do.”
With 80’s pop music playing in the background, guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres provided by Hattie’s and complimentary cocktails. Additional attendees included: ASD Chairman of the Board Don Neubauer; ASD board member and founder of No Tie Dennis Kershner and his partner John Moreno; formerHonorary Chair and BRAVO’s Real Housewives of Dallas celebrity LeeAnne Locken; former Honorary Chair Steve Kemble and partner Chad Collom; singer Hedda Layne; and No Tie’s Event Director Kristi Holman and Art Auction Chair Christina Yielding, among others.
