Dick’s Last Resorts and Bubba Tomlinson (and his musical friends) are helping to fire up the holiday season and get local DFW residents in the Christmas spirit with Dick’s Last Resorts Holly Jolly Holiday Spectacular and Toy Drive on Thursday, Nov. 19. The event will benefit WFAA Channel 8’s Santa’s Helpers program and will be held at the restaurant (2211 N. Lamar St., Dallas, TX  75202) from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Edward (Bubba) Tomlinson II, president of Tomlinson-Leis Corporation, along with his partner Dorvin Leis, have been owners and operators of west end real estate for over 20 years. Bubba’s band has played at past kickoff parties for Santa’s Helpers at the West End Pub before the pub closed two years ago. Despite this, Tomlinson said he wanted to continue the program each year because he thought it was a good cause that helped get people in the Christmas spirit while giving children in need something special for Christmas.  Dick’s Last Resort General Manager, Mike McRae, said he loved having the event at his restaurant last year and  is very excited to host the event again this year.

“It’s a big get together to get everybody thinking about Christmas and get everybody in the mood to donate some toys for these children that don’t have any,” Tomlinson said.

The event will feature live music from Jolie Holliday, Sonny Burgess, Bubba T., and special guest Shara Johnson. Guests will enjoy a holiday dinner for two that includes a shared appetizer, two entrees and a shared dessert for $30. For VIP reservations contact Julie Upton via email at julie@tomleis.com or by phone at 972-890-2412.

“We’re very excited about being the kickoff for Santa’s Helpers,” McRae said. “Growing up in an upper-middle income family, we always had great Christmases, but I think about these kids and their families who are struggling so much. We’re in a situation where we can bring a little holiday spirit to these kids and give them something to smile about. I think there are so many of us who are so much more fortunate than others, and this is just a real feel-good situation for us. It’s fun when you get to do things for other people.”

Don’t forget to bring cash or a new unwrapped toy for boys and girls up to 15 years of age!
