Scott Hamilton and family

Best known as Olympic Gold Medalist, ice skating commentator and cancer survivor, Scott Hamilton will share another significant aspect of his life, family and adoption, at the 3rd Annual Children’s Hope Dinner benefiting Orphan Outreach, set for Thursday, April 21. Supporting the organization’s work to provide for vulnerable children and orphans in some of the world’s most impoverished areas, Hamilton will reveal his touching personal story of being adopted as a baby and how he and his wife recently adopted two children from Haiti. The event will also honor Paige Rippey Locke with this year’s Children’s Hope Award for her compassionate work with orphans.

Just a few years ago, Hamilton and his wife, Tracie, adopted two children from Haiti – Evelyne and Jean Paul -- joining their two biological children Maxx and Aidan. “Our hearts and family are full, thanks to the blessing of adoption,” said Hamilton. “I am thrilled to be able to share my story at the upcoming Children’s Hope Dinner, and to support Orphan Outreach’s mission to serve orphans in critical need around the world.”

The Children’s Hope Dinner supports Orphan Outreach’s programs, which provide vulnerable children with basic survival needs and education. The Dinner was founded by Dallas philanthropist Jimmy Westcott, after a heart-wrenching mission trip to visit Russian orphanages. Westcott felt led to help raise awareness and urgently needed funds in support of the organization’s mission to serve some of the world’s most neglected children.

Orphan Outreach stresses that the need is great, as there are approximately 163 million orphans throughout the world. Natural disasters and health epidemics, such as the recent Zika virus outbreak, can also increase the need for orphan services.

“For people who care about orphans this year’s event is a must-attend as we celebrate our honoree Paige Rippey Locke and hear Scott Hamilton share his inspirational story,” said Michael Douris, Orphan Outreach president. “This event supports our work to provide for children’s critical needs -- allowing them to attend school, receive a daily meal and, ultimately, lead full, hopeful lives.”

The 3rd annual Children’s Hope Award Dinner will be emceed by former FOX 4 reporter Becky Oliver. Sandra and Elmer Doty will serve as honorary event chairs and Angie Brackbill and Margo Isbell will serve as event chairs. Event details:
