TURTLE CREEK ASSOCIATION NAMES JENNIFER SHULTZ AS NEW PRESIDENT

Shultz brings powerful combination of fundraising and management expertise to nonprofit dedicated to preserving beauty and promoting strategic growth of the Turtle Creek area

Turtle Creek Association (TCA), known for its efforts to preserve Turtle Creek’s aesthetic beauty and promote strategic business growth in the surrounding corridor, has tapped Jennifer Shultz as its new president. Shultz assumes her duties immediately.

“Jennifer delivers a powerful combination of skills and talents to Turtle Creek Association. Her fundraising and management capabilities, along with strong communication and organizational skills, will be a tremendous asset to Turtle Creek Association,” said TCA chair Kim Askew. “We look to her expertise as we develop the Turtle Creek area to its fullest potential and elevate the exposure this crown jewel so greatly deserves.”

Shultz brings a deep knowledge of fundraising and extensive expertise in project management to the position. Most recently she served as chief development officer for The Foundation for the Education of Young Women (which has since been renamed the Young Women's Preparatory Network), located in Dallas. Prior to that position, she was the executive director of prospect development at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. Additionally, the SMU graduate served in a number of positions at her alma mater, from assistant director of development to director of prospect management.

She also boasts over a decade of business experience. Her role as a “resolver” at Celanese in Dallas sharpened her troubleshooting talents. At Verizon, she worked in product management and development for Verizon Select Services and as a retail market specialist for Verizon Business E-Commerce.

Shultz’s educational background includes a bachelor of arts degree from Austin College with a double major in business administration and communication arts, along with a master of liberal arts degree in gender studies from SMU.

“It's an exciting time to join the Turtle Creek Association as the area continues to thrive, and I look forward to the opportunity and challenges that lie ahead,” said Shultz. “The TCA board has worked tirelessly, and I am eager to team up with them to enhance the Turtle Creek area for everyone in Dallas to enjoy.”

With a mission to preserve, protect and promote the Turtle Creek Corridor, the nonprofit focuses on several key areas – beautification, restoration, preservation and recreation. Among its many accomplishments, Turtle Creek Association has developed theengineering plan for creek-bank stabilization, provided seasonal color throughout the Turtle Creek Corridor, maintained the median landscape and irrigation in the area, provided regular creek cleaning by teams of loyal volunteers, and preserved over 2,600 trees that provide a habitat for wildlife and urban sustainability.
