UPDATE: The Thursday staging of "When I Knew" has been moved to Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Think of theater veteran Joe Watts' staging of "When I Knew" as a window into the gay experience.

Sure, you'll laugh and cry at the hilarious and poignant tales, but you'll also gain some perspective from the Cathedral of Hope's production of Robert Trachtenberg's stories.

Watts, the artistic director at Uptown's Cathedral of Hope, has assembled his "dream cast" to bring the collection of coming-out stories to life. The actors, all of which are Cathedral of Hope members, include Mark Calloway, Brett Marston, Benjamin Stevens and Candace Thompson.

You can still RSVP for the shows, which runs from Aug. 23, 25 and 26 with curtains at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. While there is no fee for admission, attendees can make a donation to the Cathedral of Hope's theater program.
