If you drove down McKinney Avenue at Routh on Monday, you may have noticed suddenly there were giant white letters on the side of a 10-story construction site.
Don't let the big cranes fool you. The Uptown Whole Foods Market will be opening in just over two weeks. Over 44,000 square feet of all-natural and organic goodness will be ready for shopping beginning at 8am on Wednesday, August 12.
A bread-breaking ceremony will be held at 7:30am (literally, they break a six-foot loaf of challah with the neighbors) and then the doors open to a store designed to satisfy and delight.
You may still see cranes and construction around the property, as The Gables at McKinney Ave finishes its eight-story apartments above the store, and the townhouses behind.
But you can mark your calendar for August 12 as Shopping Day One at your neighborhood Whole Foods Market.
