Dallas ISD's School for the Talented and Gifted Magnet and School of Science and Engineering Magnet took first and third place, respectively, in US News & World Report's 2012 Best High Schools list.

Additionally, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts located in the Dallas Arts District was ranked 134th in the list.

The survey, which weighs college readiness, math and reading proficiency, and student-to-teacher ratios, awarded all three Dallas ISD magnets a gold medal. Booker T. Washington also ranked No. 15 among high schools in the state.
