McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., a Texas builder for 35 years, was recently awarded a $1.8 million project by Children’s Medical Center Dallas, the sixth-largest pediatric health care provider in the nation. The project will focus on the renovation of 10,000 square feet in the hospital’s Dallas ambulatory care pavilion and provide two new clinical service lines on-site.

“As one of the top health care contractors in the state, McCarthy is thrilled to expand its portfolio of renowned health care facilities to include Children’s Medical Center Dallas,” said McCarthy Texas Region President Mike McWay. “Our extensive health care construction experience will be of great benefit to this project. We’re dedicated to providing state-of-the-art facilities and delivering an exceptional final product to Children’s as well as the thousands of patients its medical staff treats each year.”

One of the two new service lines the hospital plans to establish through the renovation is a complex chronic integrated medical home clinic (CCIMH) that will treat patients with multiple specialty diagnoses. A MyChildren’s pediatric primary care practice will also be added to the hospital’s extensive array of on-site services and will be modeled after the 16 existing off-campus MyChildren’s practices. The new on-site MyChildren’s practice will provide relief to the emergency room by offering primary care for children – from immunizations and well-child exams, to treatment for illnesses and minor emergencies.

Plans for both the CCIMH and MyChildren’s facilities include a select interior demolition and complete interior finish-out that will provide space for the new, fully operational clinics, which were ultimately designed with patient comfort in mind. The project is expected to complete in August 1, 2014.

As one of the nation’s most trusted builders, McCarthy is quickly becoming the preferred contractor for healthcare construction in the state of Texas. In addition to its newly awarded Children’s Medical Center project, the Balfour Beatty | McCarthy joint venture is currently building  the $536 million medical center replacement project for the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood. McCarthy also began work on the 630,000-square-foot Fort Bliss Replacement Hospital in El Paso as part of a joint venture with Clark Construction Group. Other recent Texas healthcare projects include work for The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and Midland Memorial Hospital.
