Expansion made possible by matching grant from KDC CEO, Steve Van Amburgh

Ribbon Cutting celebration on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m.

Dallas — Youth Believing in Change (YBC) extends its reach into the Dallas community with a 2,500-square-foot facility expansion made possible by a matching grant from Steve Van Amburgh, CEO of KDC Real Estate & Investments.  YBC will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 10 – 11 a.m.

“The community YBC serves represents families from various ethnic groups whose income levels are at or below the national poverty level,” said Reverend Vince Gaddis, YBC Executive Director. “We are so pleased to add this needed space to our facility so that we can welcome more children into our programs from our waiting list. The new addition allows YBC to serve 215 children every day after school, up from 125.”

With the contribution from Van Amburgh, who has been an YBC advisor for several years, YBC was able to reach the $250,000 financial threshold needed to begin construction on the major building initiative. This included added classroom space, which will help the ministry better serve the Vickery Meadow neighborhood.

“We recently celebrated our twentieth year serving the Vickery Meadow area, as well as the entirety of Dallas,” said Gaddis. “It’s been our mission from the beginning to bring the Good News of Jesus to these families, while helping set up their children to be successful in life. We are so pleased to continue delivering that message in the coming decades. A special thanks to everyone that has been a part of YBC.”

YBC was formed in 1995 to give children the spiritual and educational foundation they need to succeed. The ministry hosts after school programs for children ages K-12 from Sept. through May, which includes hot meals, tutoring, mentoring and homework help. In addition, YBC offers an eight-week summer program during June and July that mirrors regular school hours. It includes a music program, art enrichment, leadership and other educational efforts.

Reverend Vince Gaddis, Steve Van Amburgh, members of the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Joe Pryor, assistant superintendent with Austin Commercial and project coordinator, and other development team members will be in attendance at the Sept. 10 grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony.  The festivities will be held on the YBC campus, 8574 Stults Road, in Dallas.

The following contractors and suppliers contributed to the expansion: Austin Commercial, Potter Concrete, Martin Marietta Materials, Teddy Peinado, Goodall, Piper-Weatherford, Drywall Interiors, Weir Brothers, JMEG, Intertech Floors, Harmon, Brandt, Nova Landscaping, DGB, Shahan & Son Painting, H3, Chatham Worth, Chamberlin Waterproofing and Roofing, Maverick Framing, JLB Partners, Moore Disposal, Green Electronic Solutions and Strip-A-Zone.
