ORIX Foundation Hideto Nishitani, ORIX USA chairman; Elizabeth Daane, ORIX Foundation president and founding director; Carol Greene, ORIX Foundation director and Tonya Moore, ORIX Foundation board member and Volunteer of the Year

ORIX Foundation, the employee-led charitable foundation of Dallas-based financial services leader ORIX Americas, honored board member Tonya Moore as Volunteer of the Year at its annual fundraising dinner this July.

Foundation supporters, board members, volunteers and ORIX employees attended the event to celebrate ORIX Foundation charities and honor the Volunteer of the Year. This year’s casino-themed event was held at the Belo Mansion in Dallas on July 11, where Moore was recognized in front of approximately 320 attendees. She received a $1,000 grant to support her charity of choice.

Moore was chosen as Volunteer of the Year for the many hours she contributed as Board Secretary and Chair of the Charity Review Committee. In addition to her full-time job as Senior Litigation Paralegal at ORIX Americas, she works with more than 40 volunteers to complete an extensive due diligence process of reviewing grant requests, and is also a dedicated volunteer with ORIX Foundation charities. She has worked with children at Vogel Alcove, Rainbow Days and Family Gateway, as well as Dallas Urban Debate where she has served as a debate judge.

“Winning the ORIX Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year award is a humble reminder of the opportunity ORIX has given me to further participate in my desire to give back to the community,” Moore said. “It is so fulfilling to know that I can have a positive impact on someone’s life.”

Moore’s son is a combat Army veteran who served in Iraq and now volunteers with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA), a nonprofit that supports North Texas veterans. She has chosen to donate her money to CVMA to help their efforts that include providing basic care items for patients at the VA Hospital and holding clothing drives for Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas.

ORIX Foundation raised $124,500 at this year’s annual fundraising dinner. The money will increase investment in North Texas nonprofit organizations that focus on strengthening vulnerable populations, including impoverished families, children at risk and veterans. ORIX Foundation has made grants totaling $4.5 million since 2009.

“We are extremely grateful for Tonya’s dedication to the Foundation, and to all of our donors and employee volunteers who support our cause,” said Carol Greene, director of the ORIX Foundation. “Tonya brings wonderful energy to our board and is truly helping us change the lives of vulnerable individuals and families in our community.”

Event sponsors of the ORIX Foundation Dinner included CBRE; K&L Gates LLP; Torys LLP; Chapman & Culter LLP; Crowell & Moring, LLP; Deloitte; Estes Okon Thorne & Carr PLLC; Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP; Goldman Sachs; Houlihan Lokey; Jackson Walker L.L.P; Linklaters; Republic Title of Texas, Inc.; Scheef & Stone, L.L.P.; Tudor Pickering Holt & Co.; and Winstead PC.
