ORIX Foundation, the employee-led charitable foundation of Dallas-based financial services leader ORIX USA raised $221,250 at its annual fundraising dinner and gala to support local charities. The funds will increase investment in North Texas nonprofit organizations that focus on strengthening vulnerable populations, including impoverished families, children at risk and veterans.

The ‘80s-themed gala at Sixty-Five Hundred in Dallas brought together foundation supporters, board members, volunteers and ORIX employees to celebrate ORIX Foundation charities and honor Assistant General Counsel and ORIX Foundation Board Member Nicola Hobeiche for her dedication to the ORIX Foundation as a longtime volunteer. As Volunteer of the Year, she received a $1,000 grant to support a charity of her choice. Hobeiche plans to adopt an animal at the Dallas Zoo in honor of her friend’s terminally ill son who loves animals.

“We are grateful for the support of our partners and employees who share our mission to build stronger communities,” said Josh Mayfield, ORIX Foundation board president and head of ORIX Energy Capital. “In addition to the contributions made by our sponsors, Nicola’s dedication to our foundation is helping us empower members of our community who need our help the most.”

Hobeiche has been involved with the foundation since 2006 and has served on the Foundation Fair, Holiday Drive, Charity Review, Fundraising, Board Development and Volunteer committees. She recently completed the 2016 Dallas Leadership Class with the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce, where she was part of a capital campaign that raised nearly $175,000 in funds and in-kind donations to renovate the women and children’s dormitories at Nexus Recovery Center. She also serves as board member for Community Partners of Dallas, where she has been involved since 2010.

“The ORIX Foundation is an amazing catalyst that brings a diverse group of employees together to share their passion for giving back,” Hobeiche said. “People who don’t usually work together are able to roll up their sleeves and work side-by-side volunteering at a charity. It provides balance that you may not experience otherwise, and it really makes your heart smile.”

“We can’t think of anyone more deserving to receive the ORIX Foundation Volunteer of the Year award,” said Paige McDaniel, President and CEO at Community Partners of Dallas. “Since Nicola got involved with our organization in 2010, she’s been a wonderfully active and supportive board member, volunteer and donor. She’s an amazing champion for the children we serve and brings great strategic vision to every project.”
