The Sammons Center’s popular singer showcase returns on Friday, August 24, with a new name, the Astrid Merriman Cabaret & Cabernet Fete. The semi-annual event begins at 7:30 p.m. with a wine tasting, followed at 8:00 p.m. by the parade of outstanding cabaret artists singing music from the Great American Songbook, Broadway shows, and the pop charts.
The lineup includes singers new to the event as well as audience favorites: Jodi Crawford-Wright, Sheran Goodspeed Keyton, Tony Hakim, Keron Jackson, Carolyn Lee Jones, Janelle Lutz, Angie McWhirter, Linda Petty (doing double-duty as the emcee), Jason Mosher, Truy Tran, and Lori Yeary. Each singer performs one song and is accompanied by the Larry Petty Combo.
Admission is $400 for a table of six and $500 for a table of eight. All guests receive complimentary valet parking, wine and other beverages, appetizers, and the concert. Each table host also receives an annual Sammons Cabaret membership, a gift certificate for two tickets to a regular Sammons Cabaret concert and a CD. Tables may be purchased by calling (214) 520-7788 or online at http://bit.ly/cabaretandcabernet. All major credit cards are accepted.
The event serves as the season kickoff of the Carson Series of Sammons Cabaret, a unique combination of theater and music introduced in February 2012 as an adjunct to the Sammons Center’s acclaimed jazz series. Sammons Cabaret is held in the intimate setting of Kurth Hall at the Sammons Center on the third Thursday of each month, February through May and September through December.
