A constellation of concertos to celebrate Earth Day: Antonio Vivaldi and his influencers.
DALLAS - Crafted from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, this high-octane concerto immersion highlightsthe virtuosity of seven members of the ensemble. The Mandolin Concerto features guitarist HectorTorres. Cellists Christopher Phillpott and Sydney ZumMallen join forces in the Concerto for TwoCellos. The Concerto for Four Violins and Cello rounds out the nearly all-Vivaldi program.
“It’s exciting to have the talent within the ensemble to create this singular experience”, said AssistantDirector and harpsichordist Molly Hammond. “Specific movements from The Four Seasons providethe framework for the addition of other audience-friendly pieces. There’s even a jazz standard with astriking connection to one of the Seasons.”
Works by peer composers Alessandro Scarlatti and Arcangelo Corelli reveal their influence andcharm.
