Deadline to be on the tracks Opening Day is October 12

DALLAS September 25, 2017 – Custom railcar sales for the 30th Anniversary of The Trains at NorthPark are brisk, but supporters should know the October 12 deadline is approaching if they want their railcar on the tracks at the debut of this year’s exhibit on Saturday, November 18. The Trains at NorthPark, presented by Bank of Texas and benefiting Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD), attracts more than 70,000 visitors each holiday season at Dallas’ favorite shopping destination with over 750 railcars recognizing the corporations, organizations, families and individuals who make the seasonal attraction possible. The 30th annual holiday run will arrive November 18, 2017, and be open daily through January 7, 2018.

Railcars are priced at $175 for a standard railcar; $275 for a 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Passenger Car in emerald green (fourth in a series of annual Limited Edition passenger cars); $225 for a Caboose; and $325 for an engine. All railcars are hand-painted and customized according to the purchaser’s direction.

The Trains at NorthPark is the largest miniature train exhibit in Texas, a 1,600-foot elaborate configuration of tracks and scenes that heralds the North Texas holiday spirit each year. It has been seen by around two million people since its original run in 1987, and has helped raise more than $13 million for RMHD.

“We have some amazing Dallas legacies memorialized in our three decades of railcars,” said Jill Cumnock, chief executive officer of RMHD. “Generations of families and corporations like Bank of Texas have made this beloved event both possible and incredibly successful over the years, making our little exhibit that could a ‘can’t miss’ on the holiday list for thousands of families from around the region. The Trains at NorthPark is our largest source of annual funding, helping us serve 1,200 families each year.”

The Trains at NorthPark will arrive at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 18 at its new location on the 2nd level of NorthPark Mall between Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, and will extend through Sunday, January 7, 2017. It will feature cityscapes like Dallas, replete with the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and Fair Park; New York with Times Square and Grand Central Terminal; Washington, D.C. with The White House; and San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Other highlights include New England’s fall foliage, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore and Route 66.

This year’s Honorary Chairs are Dr. Dale Fuller and his wife Jean Fuller. Dr. Fuller, a radiation oncologist, is a long-time supporter and founding board member of RMHD, which has provided a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill or injured children seeking treatment at Dallas hospitals since 1981. The 2017 co-chairs for The Trains at NorthPark are Hollee Hirzel and Bridget Miller.

Tickets for The Trains at NorthPark are $4 for children ages 2-12 and seniors over 65. Adults are $7, while children under 2 are admitted for free. The exhibit closes for Christmas and Thanksgiving, also closing early at 4 p.m. for both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Those interested in supporting The Trains at NorthPark through sponsorship, volunteering or purchasing a railcar can do so by visiting www.thetrainsatnorthpark.com or contacting Janie Robertson at jrobertson@rmhdallas.org.
