DALLAS UNITED PINK, Dallas’ first dragon boat team for breast cancer survivors is hosting an information meeting this Saturday for those interested in joining the fun.

PINK welcomes all male and female breast cancer survivors, and no paddling experience is necessary. The team will start paddling on the water at White Rock Lake this March.

 What is a dragon boat?

Dragon boating originated in China over 2,000 years ago and now there are over 150 BCS dragon boat teams around the world.  A dragon boat team is made up of 20 paddlers and a steersperson moving to the beat of a drummer in a 40-foot canoe-like boat.  Each boat resembles a dragon, with a dragon’s head at the bow and a tail at the stern during races. There are dragon boat festivals and races worldwide, and race distances range from 250 meters to 500 meters.

Saturday, February 20th at 2 pm in The Point Building at CC Young Retirement Community, 4847 West Lawther Drive, Dallas, 75214.
