It’s going to be a light show of spectacular proportions in downtown Dallas when the city presents its signature holiday event – CityLights – on Saturday, November 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event will take place at Main Street Garden and will feature plenty of fun and entertainment to go with the view
CityLights 2011 is presented by Downtown Dallas, Inc., the city of Dallas, AT&T and multiple other partners. CityLights has increased in its scope and grandeur each year and this year is no different as there will be a special unveiling of a season-long, one-of-a-kind light installation spanning five blocks of Main Street.
CityLights begins with a Holiday Festival that will be open all throughout the event. The festival will feature an outdoor market, face painting, ornament making, foods, music and much more. The light show will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the lighting of Downtown’s 65-foot holiday tree, which is decorated with over 10,000 feet of lights and special effects.
“We couldn’t do this event alone, so we are so grateful for the City of Dallas, AT&T and others for making this event possible,” said John Crawford, President and CEO of Downtown Dallas, Inc. “There are more surprises in store than ever before – all I can say is be prepared to be showered by lights, wowed by a North Pole visitor descending from the sky and following a brigade of motorized reindeer to the grand finale!”
Kids will also be getting a treat, as Neiman Marcus, one of the partners for CityLights 2011, will be opening their holiday windows on Sunday, November 19, bringing back the popular crawl tubs. Children can physically enter a journey of fantasy and wonder that will dazzle and entertain them.
The event is free and open to the public. Anyone who doesn’t want to deal with parking is recommended to take the DART. Stop at the St. Paul station and CityLights 2011 is only a block away.
