Dallas Film Shares New Announcements Regarding the 13th Annual Dallas International Film Festival

Today, people will gather in West Village to celebrate the opening night of the 13th annual Dallas International Film Festival powered by Capital One. The festival will run from April 11 to April 18 with screenings at The Magnolia and Studio Movie Grill Royal Lane. Dallas Film is pleased to share a few new announcements as festivalgoers eagerly prepare their schedules in anticipation of an amazing festival experience. These updates include a new film added to the mix, live musical entertainment and an overview of the grand prize.

 

“To start, we are excited to share that Joe Berlinger, director of the Ted Bundy movie ‘Shockingly Wicked, Extremely Evil and Vile,’ will do a Q&A following the screening of the film on opening night,” said James Faust, artistic director of Dallas Film. “We are also thrilled to announce that we have added the film ‘One Child Nation’ to the mix of films that will be screened during this year’s festival. Nanfu Wang’s new documentary is an unflinching exposé on China’s one-child policy. This film comes from Amazon Studios and will be added to our Premiere Series Section.”

 

Screenings for “One Child Nation” will be held on Monday, April 15, at 7:15 p.m. at The Magnolia and on Tuesday, April 16, at 1:15 p.m. at The Magnolia. The film’s runtime is 85 minutes. To view the full schedule for the festival, please visit http://dallasiff.org/schedule/

 

“In addition to adding this new film, we are delighted to announce the schedule of events for the live music stage which we are calling the ‘South Alley Stage,’” said Johnathan Brownlee, CEO & president of Dallas Film and executive director of Dallas International Film Festival. “This is a great opportunity to bring people together to celebrate film and music, as we are huge advocates of exposing people to the arts. Some of the live music will be performed by actors and musicians featured in the films.”

April 11 – Opening Night – Castro at 9:00 p.m.

April 12 – Nothing Stays the Same – Cari Hutson at 7:00 p.m.

April 13 – This World Won’t Break – Greg Schroeder at 10:00 p.m.

April 14 – Hand Drawn Records Showcase at 7:00 p.m.

April 15 – Cure for Paranoia at 7:00 p.m.

April 16 – Live from the Astroturf – Dallas Cooper at 7:00 p.m.

April 17 – After So Many Days – Jim and Sam at 8:30 p.m.

 

“As for our final announcement, we would like to wish all the filmmakers the best of luck as judging commences this week,” said Brownlee. “Awards will be announced on Sunday, April 14, and the grand prize is a national release through Studio Movie Grill. It’s going to be our best fest yet, and we encourage everyone to join us and see all the new changes we have made to provide an exceptional festival experience for all who attend.”
