He studied architecture at the University of Kansas and at the University of London, England graduating with a Bachelor of Environmental Design.  He collaborated with Charles W. Moore in designing the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition in New Orleans, and also established an office with Moore in Austin.  He is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects.

For Andersson-Wise, the fundamental elements that give buildings meaning are found in nature.    The W Hotel + Residences with Austin City Limits LIVE at the Moody Theater, the Topfer Theatre at ZACH, the Dining Hall & Student Center and the Dormitory & Faculty Residences at St. Stephens Episcopal School, and Temple Beth Shalom on the Jewish Community Center in Austin are a short list of his recently completed projects.  Andersson was most recently selected to design a sustainably driven event center for the Boy Scouts of America called the Summit Bechtel Reserve: Ridge Leadership Center including a 300 seat lecture hall, dining hall, central lodge, and visitor lodging in West Virginia.  Andersson’s projects are full of light and atmosphere, the physical embodiment of the great Charles Moore's influential tenet that architecture is about enhancing a sense of place.

The Connected City Design Challenge was developed to focus on bold design solutions to connect Downtown and Trinity River overcoming the physical, psychological, and economic divide currently existing.  Following presentations in the Fall of 2013, The Challenge Jury identified from the body of work their preferred themes and ideas, with special recognition on an overall basis to Stoss + SHoP for their scheme of “Hyper-Density Hyper Landscape”.  "The success of the competition and the provocative ideas it generated set the stage for a sustained agenda to reconnect Downtown Dallas to the Trinity River” said Larry Beasley, The Challenge Jury Chair.  “It can be done - the creative submissions show many clever solutions - and it must be done. This is a challenge that will truly transform Dallas.”

Hear how these solutions are being investigated and moving forward. Learn how you can get involved to shape this area of our city. Join us for this important and timely update moderated by Brent Brown.

The post-1968 architectural design theory era has come to a close. A new moment has arrived that promotes innovation through the insertion of design research into today’s architectural practice. This panel will examine how new advances in digital technology have specifically accelerated this to take place and discuss what role research will play in shaping the design education and profession moving forward.

Brad Bell teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on the integration of digital fabrication technologies into the architectural design process. He has lectured, taught, and written on the uses of such technologies for the past 12 years and has been an invited critic at schools of architecture throughout the United States. In 2012 Bell started TOPOCAST, a design and consultation firm focused on the implementation of innovative methods in casting through the application of digital fabrication technologies.

In 2009 Brad became one of the founders and co-directors of TEX-FAB. TEX-FAB is a non-profit organization founded between three universities in Texas with the primary function of connecting design professionals, academics, and manufacturers interested in digital fabrication. The three co-directors established TEX-FAB as a collective action which combines divergent interests and capabilities in order to strengthen the regional discourse around digital fabrication and parametric design. They see this type of effort as a new paradigm focused on providing a network of affiliated digital fabrication resources, and a platform for education and exchange on issues of parametric modeling. TEX-FAB seeks to engage the new and growing awareness of a regional and global hybridization by leveraging the burgeoning global knowledge base to produce a more specific and contextual dialogue in the region in which we operate, teach, and practice.
