Dallas Architecture Forum Presents Distinguished Architect Tom Kundig, FAIA

Dallas Architecture Forum, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing challenging and on-going public discourse about architecture, design and the urban environment, is pleased to present distinguished architect Tom Kundig, FAIA, of Seattle, Washington.   He will speak on Tuesday, March 24 at the City Performance Hall, 2520 Flora Street, Dallas, Texas 75201.

Tom Kundig, FAIA, is a principal and owner of Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects, and he is widely recognized as one of the leading residential architects in the United States. Kundig is known for his poetic, elemental and intuitive designs that reveal his reverence for materials, art, craft and the experience of built space and our relationship to landscape. His current and past work can be found on five continents, including a World Heritage site in Dachstein, Austria.  Over the past three decades, Kundig has received some of the design world’s highest honors, including a National Design Award from the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and an Academy Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2012, he was inducted into Interior Design magazines Hall of Fame.

Kundig’s work has received over 50 awards from the American Institute of Architects, including ten National Design Awards, seven National Honor Awards and seven National Housing Awards. His work has appeared in hundreds of publications worldwide such as The New York Times, The Telegraph, Architectural Record, Financial Times, Architectural Digest and The Wall Street Journal, and many books including House, the recently-released volume by Diane Keaton. He is named in The Wallpaper* 150 as a key individual who has influenced, inspired and improved the way we live, work and travel. Kundig is the author of two monographs featuring the work of his firm, Tom Kundig Houses and Tom Kundig Houses 2.

The lecture by Mr. Kundig will occur at 7 p.m. with a complimentary reception beginning at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, and $5 for students (with ID). Tickets can be purchased at the door before the lecture. No reservations are needed to attend Forum lectures. Dallas Architecture Forum members receive free admission to all regular Forum lectures as a benefit of membership, and AIA members can earn one hour of CE credit for each lecture.
