DESCRIPTION:Samuel Lynne Galleries is honored to announce Tyler Shields’ re
 turn to Dallas\, for the opening of his 2023 exhibition here at SLG. The e
 xhibition will be held on  Friday\, September 22 nd  from 6-9pm at Samuel
  Lynne Galleries at The Thompson Hotel (205 N. Akard Street\, Dallas) and
  September 23 rd  from 6-9pm at Samuel Lynne Galleries’ Design District lo
 cation (1105 Dragon St.).   The exhibition will be on view through   Octob
 er 21 st \, 2023.   \n   \n Shields’ provocative and nostalgic photography
  challenges the boundaries of our world and mind\, breaking through the gl
 ass ceiling of creativity and loaded messages.  His iconic images are on d
 isplay in leading galleries and museums worldwide\, and Shields has been h
 onored as the only living photographer to have a solo exhibition at Sotheb
 y’s auction house\, and he has had two.  Shields invites all types of appr
 eciators to enjoy his artwork\, but simultaneously asks them to challenge
  their perceptions while doing so.  \n   \n Fine art photographer Tyler Sh
 ields uses the symbols and brands that we know so well\, urging us to morp
 h our understanding of these commonly understood icons. Whether he is taki
 ng a chainsaw to a Birkin handbag or staging a model on the edge of a flyi
 ng helicopter\, there are no boxes that Shields’ artistry fits in. He is u
 sing a nostalgic form of photo taking with raw film and the Hasselblad cam
 era\, somehow still making strides into the future of photography. It is t
 his ode to the past with an eye seeing around corners that makes his photo
 graphy so special.  \n   \n This exhibition will be a culmination of Shiel
 ds’ most popular work along with his newest releases. Part of the display
  will include Shields’ newly released Platinum Palladium collection. This
  extremely limited collection utilizes an extinct printing procedure to cr
 eate artworks that will last\, suspended in time\, for over 1\,000 years.
    \n   \n Tyler Shields is constantly reminding us to consider our limita
 tions less than we consider our dreams.  As a world champion of the X-Game
 s\, Shields would have been a global star at anything he chose to do\, we
  are just grateful that he chose photography.  Join us in welcoming this p
