DESCRIPTION:The Dallas Architecture Forum\, a non-profit organization dedic
 ated to providing public education about architecture\, design\, public sp
 ace and the urban environment\, continues its 2024-2025 Lecture Series on
  Wednesday\, October 23\, 2024\, at 6:00 pm. The Forum is pleased to prese
 nt award-winning architect and designer Germane Barnes . This Lecture will
  be held at the  Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station. Forum member
 s may attend for free. Tickets for non-members will be available at the do
 or - $5 for Students (with student i.d.)\, $25 General Admission. Check-in
  and pre-Lecture Reception will begin at 5:30 pm in the lobby of the Angel
 ika. Drinks reception will FOLLOW the lecture. \nGermane Barnes is a Chica
 go-born\, Miami-based architect\, designer\, and founder of Studio Barnes\
 , a research and design practice. He is an Associate Professor and the Dir
 ector of The Community Housing & Identity Lab at the University of Miami S
 chool of Architecture\, a platform for investigations of architecture’s so
 cial and political resiliency. Germane’s research and design practice inve
 stigates the connection between architecture and identity\, examining the
  discipline’s social and political agency through historical research and
  design speculation. \nBarnes’ work is in the permanent collections of int
 ernational institutions including MoMA\, SF MoMA\, LACMA\, The Art Institu
 te of Chicago\, and The National Museum of African American History and Cu
 lture. His work has been shown at MoMA’s ground-breaking exhibition “Recon
 structions: Architecture and Blackness in America\,” as well as the Chicag
 o Architectural Biennale and Milan Design Week.  \nGermane has been featur
 ed in The New York Times and Architect Magazine . He was selected in the i
 naugural cohort of The Dorchester Industries Experimental Design Lab creat
 ed by Theaster Gates and sponsored by Prada. Most recently\, his project G
 riot was widely published as a participant in Biennale Architettura 2023\,
  Laboratory of the Future. Germane was awarded the Wheelwright Prize from
  the Harvard Graduate School of Design\, the Rome Prize from the American
  Academy\, and the Architectural League Prize. Germane and his team\, incl
 uding local member Dennis Chiessa and architect of record GFF\, is current
 ly working on the Fort Worth project Transform 1012 \, which is turning a
  former Ku Klux Klan auditorium into The Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Co
